Hilton Head National RV Resort Review

Big Rig Luxury + Lazy River + Golf + Hilton Head Access… is this one of the best RV resorts in the Southeast?

If you’re searching for an honest review of Hilton Head National Golf Club RV Resort, this one deserves your attention. Huge concrete pads (and I mean HUGE), resort-style amenities, golf, biking, food, shopping, and easy access to Hilton Head Island and Bluffton — this park checked almost every box for us. But there’s one thing about the “premium” adult-only section you may want to know before booking.

1. Big Rig Friendly (Really Big Rig Friendly)

This is one of the most genuinely big-rig-friendly parks we’ve stayed at.

Not “big-rig friendly” in marketing terms… actual big-rig friendly.

The concrete pads are massive, level, and easy to get into. We stepped off one pull-through that was roughly 150 feet long — no joke, you could fit two RVs on it. Site sizes vary, but every one we saw could comfortably handle a large Class A.

For anyone traveling in a 45-foot coach like us, this matters.

2. Resort Amenities Done Right

This park is loaded with amenities—and they actually feel like real resort amenities, not just the typical check-the-box extras.

What stood out to us most was the community feel. There’s always something going on here, which makes it easy to meet people and settle into the resort vibe. There were paths and sidewalk around the whole park and very pet friendly.

From what we saw during our stay, they had things like water zumba, live music at the pool, happy hour, coffee and donuts, and other social events that gave the park a fun, active atmosphere.

Highlights:
✔ Large resort pool
✔ Huge lazy river (with tubes provided)
✔ Poolside bar & Billy Mac’s Grille Restaurant—great margaritas!
✔ Happy hour + solid food
✔ Live music
✔ Upscale clubhouse
✔ Full gym (treadmills, elliptical, bikes, free weights, machines)
✔ Pickleball
✔ Basketball
✔ Kids playground
✔ Pet parks
✔ Walking & biking trails
✔ Gift shop
✔ Private bathhouse/showers (very clean)

We floated the lazy river talking with other guests while live music played, margaritas in hand—and honestly, that’s not our normal pace. We’re usually out exploring or doing something, but this was one of those rare RV days where slowing down felt perfect.

Funny enough, the couple we were talking to warned us about Hilton Head Island Motorcoach Resort being extremely tight for big rigs…but we didn’t listen.

You’ll have to read that review next.

And yes—the margaritas were worth it.

3. Clean, Modern, and Well Maintained

This resort is only about 4 years old, and you can tell.

The infrastructure feels newer, utilities are modern, and the entire park is paved, landscaped, and very well maintained.

Everything feels polished.

Every site also has its own picnic table, which is a nice touch.

4. Waters Edge Section — Worth the Upgrade?

There’s an adults-only section called Waters Edge, marketed as the more upscale side of the resort, with its own private clubhouse, concierge, pool, bar, hot tub, and golf course views. It’s designed to offer a quieter, more exclusive experience and typically costs about $50–$60 more per night, depending on the site.

Full transparency—we didn’t stay in Waters Edge, but we did walk through the area.

From what we saw, the RV sites themselves didn’t appear noticeably more upscale or different than the main resort sites, which are already large, concrete, level, and very nice.

We also noticed several Waters Edge guests hanging out at the main pool and bar, which had more energy, live music, and a more social vibe.

So if you’re looking for adults-only, quieter, and access to the private amenities, it may be worth the upgrade. But if you’re upgrading expecting significantly better RV sites, that wasn’t our impression. If you’ve stayed there, let us know if you thought it was worth it.

5. Location is a Huge Bonus

This location is hard to beat.

You’re close to:
• Hilton Head Island beaches
• Bluffton restaurants and shopping
• Outlet malls directly across the street
• Tons of golf courses
• Seafood markets
• Bike trails everywhere

One thing we loved: this area is incredibly bike-friendly.

You can bike into Bluffton or all the way toward Hilton Head Island using the connected path system.

That’s a huge plus for us.

6. Food Nearby (And It Was Good)

We ate at Frankie Bones and it was excellent. It was so good we went back a second time.

We also grabbed fresh swordfish and crab cakes to cook from Nantucket's Meat & Fish Market right next to the outlets—and it was one of our favorite finds.

Super convenient and seriously fresh.

Bonus: it’s attached to Pizza & Pints.

Honest Opinion

This is absolutely one of our favorite RV resorts.

We never got bored and honestly could have stayed longer.

What makes it stand out:
✔ Friendly staff
✔ Huge LEVEL concrete pads
✔ Beautiful landscaping
✔ Tons of amenities
✔ Great pool/bar atmosphere
✔ Golf access
✔ Shopping across the street
✔ Great restaurants nearby
✔ Bikeable area
✔ Big-rig easy

The only downside for us? No main area hot tub unless you pay for Waters Edge.

Would that stop us from coming back?

Not even close.
