Sun Outdoors Orange Beach | Orange Beach, Alabama

A large, amenity-packed RV resort with an unbeatable location next to Gulf State Park and directly across from The Wharf.

If you’re looking for a fun, active RV resort in the heart of Orange Beach, Sun Outdoors Orange Beach checks a lot of boxes. Between the resort amenities, easy access to miles of bike trails, and being just steps away from restaurants, shopping, and concerts at The Wharf, this park makes a fantastic home base for exploring the Alabama Gulf Coast.

This is a large, well-maintained resort that is big-rig friendly, very clean, and easy to navigate, making it a great option whether you're staying for a few nights, a week, or longer.

Spacious Sites & Easy Setup

One of the things we noticed right away is how easy the park is to get in and out of, even with larger RVs.

The sites are large, paved, and easy to pull into, which makes arrival and setup simple. The roads throughout the park are wide and easy to navigate, which is always appreciated when traveling with a bigger rig.

The resort itself is very large but well organized and beautifully maintained. Everything feels clean and well cared for.

There is also a newer back section of the resort that was developed later, which gives guests additional site options with newer infrastructure.

Resort Amenities & Activities

Sun Outdoors Orange Beach offers great resort-style amenities, making it easy to relax and enjoy your stay without even leaving the park.

Highlights include:

• Three beautiful pools with plenty of lounge space
• Pickleball courts where groups often gather in the mornings (and are usually welcoming if you'd like to join)
• On-site restaurant
• Golf cart and e-bike rentals
• Multiple dog parks and very pet-friendly environment
• Clean comfort stations and laundry facilities

The resort has a very social and friendly atmosphere, especially in the mornings when people head out for pickleball or bike rides.

Another thing we noticed during our stay was how friendly and helpful the staff was. Everyone we encountered was welcoming and happy to help.

Incredible Location

One of the biggest highlights of this resort is its location.

Several nature and biking trails lead directly from the resort into Gulf State Park, giving you access to miles of paved biking and walking paths through beautiful coastal landscapes. If you enjoy biking like we do, this is a huge bonus.

The resort is also directly across the street from The Wharf, a popular outdoor shopping and entertainment district in Orange Beach.

The Wharf features shops, restaurants, a marina, and the Wharf Amphitheater, which hosts major concerts and events throughout the year.

It’s an easy walk, bike ride, or quick drive from the resort, making it a fun place to spend an evening.

Great Restaurants & Things To Do Nearby

Another reason this resort is such a great base is how many great restaurants and attractions are close by.

A few favorites in the area include:

Cobalt Restaurant – a large, lively restaurant with a fun atmosphere and great food without over-the-top prices. It’s always busy, but we usually find a seat at the bar if we work our way in. The tuna nachos appetizer is a must-try.

The Gulf Restaurant – a casual waterfront restaurant made from shipping containers with a great beachy vibe.

The Hangout in Gulf Shores – a fun spot right near the beach with live music and a lively outdoor atmosphere.

The Wharf – shopping, restaurants, and fantastic concerts at the Wharf Amphitheater.

If you're traveling with kids or family, OWA Parks & Resort is about 20 minutes away and features Tropic Falls Amusement & Water Park.

There is truly no shortage of things to do in this area.

Rates & Availability

The resort offers daily, weekly, and monthly stays, which makes it flexible for different types of trips.

Even during prime seasons, they often run specials if you ask. This is a large resort and they like to keep the park full, so it’s worth checking to see what promotions might be available.

Honest Opinion

We would definitely stay here again.

Sun Outdoors Orange Beach is clean, well maintained, big-rig friendly, and located in one of the most fun areas on the Alabama Gulf Coast.

What really makes this park stand out for us is how easy it is to get out and enjoy everything nearby. Being able to bike directly into Gulf State Park, walk or ride over to The Wharf for restaurants or concerts, and have so many great places to eat nearby makes this a really fun place to stay.

We love biking the trails, grabbing dinner at Cobalt, heading over to The Wharf for a concert, or driving over to Gulf Shores to hear music at The Hangout.

We are big country music fans, and the Wharf Amphitheater brings in some top artists throughout the year, which makes staying here even more fun. When big concerts are happening, the hotels in the area book up quickly and this RV park gets crowded too.

Our advice: if you’re planning to come for a concert or event at The Wharf, book your RV site early.

Overall, the resort is very clean, well run, and welcoming with great amenities and a friendly atmosphere.

If you enjoy biking, great restaurants, concerts, and having lots to do nearby, this is a resort that’s definitely worth checking out—and one we’d happily return to.
