The Ridge Outdoor Resort Review: One of the Best Luxury RV Resorts in the Smoky Mountains?

If you’re looking for a luxury RV resort near Great Smoky Mountains National Park, The Ridge Outdoor Resort should absolutely be on your list. With mountain views, spacious level sites, upscale amenities, and an unbeatable location near Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Dollywood, this resort makes a strong case for being one of the best RV resorts in Tennessee.

We originally came for a National Indoor RV Centers customer appreciation rally and ended up extending our stay—which tells you everything. There was simply too much to do, and we weren’t ready to leave.

Pictures don’t fully capture this place. If you’re considering staying at The Ridge Outdoor Resort, watch our full video tour before you book—we’ll show you the sites, pools, clubhouse, premium hot tub sites, and the mountain views so you can see if it’s worth it for your next Smoky Mountain trip.

What Stands Out at The Ridge

✔ Big Rig Friendly
Wide roads, easy turns, spacious sites, and level pads make setup easy—even for larger Class A motorhomes like ours. This park was clearly designed for big rigs.

✔ Beautiful Smoky Mountain Views
One thing that stood out immediately was the scenery. The resort sits up in the hills, and many areas offer beautiful mountain views that make morning coffee and evening walks even better. The elevation gives the entire park a true mountain retreat feel.

✔ Incredible Staff
The staff here was one of the highlights of our stay. Friendly, helpful, organized, and always visible. For a large resort with a lot going on, they kept everything running smoothly and made the experience feel welcoming.

✔ Extremely Clean
The entire resort felt clean and very well maintained—from the sites to the bathhouses to the clubhouse. The bathhouses looked like they were cleaned daily and were some of the nicest we’ve seen.

✔ Resort-Level Amenities
This place goes way beyond your average RV park.

  • Large clubhouse with gym, arcade, event center, general store, and registration

  • Two pools: one at the main clubhouse with a hot tub and a second resort-style pool with lazy river, hot tubs, cabanas, and bathhouse

  • Restaurant onsite near the bathhouse and laundry facility

  • Large event center that also hosts church services on weekends

✔ Spacious Sites
The sites feel open and roomy, not packed in on top of each other.

✔ Premium Upgrade Sites
A few premium sites include fireplaces, TVs, and private hot tubs—which is a pretty incredible touch after a long hiking day.

✔ Great Location
You’re close to everything—Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Dollywood, shopping, restaurants, and grocery stores like Kroger and Publix.

And yes—plenty of restaurants nearby, including Texas Roadhouse.

Smoky Mountain Hiking Bonus

One of the biggest perks of staying here is being close to some of the best hiking in the Smokies.

During our stay, we hiked:

🥾 Rainbow Falls Trail
About 3.2 miles round trip and absolutely worth it.

🥾 Chimney Tops Trail
Around 4 miles round trip and a serious leg workout with incredible views.

🥾 Alum Cave Trail to Mount LeConte
Still one of our favorites.

All were about a 40-minute drive from the resort, making The Ridge an excellent home base for both adventure and relaxation.

And trust me—you’ll feel like you got your workout in.

Gym Review

The gym is solid for an RV resort. It has a good free weight section and enough equipment to get a real workout in. That said, it feels a little older and has more of a basement vibe, and the treadmills and ellipticals face a wall instead of the mountain views—which feels like a missed opportunity.

Still, better than most RV resort gyms.

Honest Opinion

After touring several RV resorts in the area—including Camp Margaritaville RV Resort & Lodge, Camp RiversLanding, and Two Rivers Landing RV Resort—The Ridge Outdoor Resort was the clear standout for us.

It simply felt more polished, more spacious, cleaner, and more like a true luxury RV resort. The mountain setting, resort-style pools, premium sites, incredible staff, and overall layout put it on another level.

The gym could use an update, and the park is definitely hilly—which could matter for some travelers—but we loved walking around the park and it was great exercise.

What really sets this place apart is the combination of location, amenities, views, staff, and access to adventure. You can spend the day hiking in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, exploring Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, or relaxing by the lazy river—all from one home base.

We came for a rally and stayed longer. That probably says more than anything else.

Would we stay again? Absolutely.
And next time? We may book one of those private hot tub sites.
